CS2 supports preset crosshair colors and custom RGB values. Custom RGB is useful when the standard presets do not give enough contrast for your monitor and maps.
Use contrast, not fashion
Green and cyan are common choices, but the best color for you is the one that remains visible without distracting you. Check it against both light and dark surfaces.
Keep alpha in mind
Alpha controls opacity. Fully opaque crosshairs are easier to see, while lower alpha can reduce visual weight. Test the result at your normal brightness and resolution.
